Former Indian cricket all-rounder Irfan Pathan has shared his thoughts on the current state of Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL season. In his latest Instagram post, Pathan highlighted several key observations about the two most successful franchises in IPL history.

According to Pathan, Mumbai Indians have received a significant boost with the return of Rohit Sharma to form. The former MI captain, who handed over leadership duties to Hardik Pandya before this season, appears to have found his batting rhythm after a period of inconsistent performances. Rohit’s resurgence comes at a crucial time for the five-time champions who have struggled in the early part of the tournament.

“Rohit Sharma is back,” Pathan stated emphatically in his post, suggesting that the opener’s return to form could be pivotal for Mumbai’s campaign moving forward.

Pathan also praised Suryakumar Yadav’s consistency, which has been a bright spot for Mumbai Indians this season. SKY, as he is popularly known, has been delivering reliable performances with the bat, providing stability to MI’s middle order. His ability to accelerate the scoring rate while maintaining consistency has been crucial for the team.

“Surya’s consistency,” Pathan noted, highlighting how the world’s top-ranked T20I batsman has translated his international form into the IPL arena.

With improved performances from key players, Pathan believes Mumbai Indians are now positioning themselves for a top-four finish. After a challenging start to their campaign, MI appears to be gaining momentum at the right time.

“Mumbai is aiming top 4,” Pathan observed, suggesting that the team’s recent upturn in form has put them back in contention for the playoff spots. This assessment comes after Mumbai registered a convincing victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad, as Pathan mentioned in one of his earlier posts where he stated, “Convincing victory by MI. Hyderabad’s impact player?”

On the other hand, Pathan expressed concerns about Chennai Super Kings’ approach with the bat. Despite their recent win against Lucknow Super Giants, which Pathan acknowledged in a previous post saying “CSK is back. Dhoni & Dube’s solid finish,” he now feels their batting tempo is an issue.

“CSK is playing too slow,” Pathan remarked, suggesting that the defending champions need to increase their scoring rate to remain competitive in the tournament.

The image accompanying Pathan’s post shows him in a thoughtful pose, seemingly analyzing the performances of these IPL teams, reinforcing his role as a cricket analyst who offers insightful commentary on the game.

Irfan Pathan has been actively sharing his analysis throughout the IPL season. His recent posts have covered various teams and players, including RCB’s strategy against Punjab Kings, Mitchell Starc’s outstanding performance for Kolkata Knight Riders, and young talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s development.

In one of his earlier observations, Pathan noted, “Good win for RCB. Should have pressed bit harder? Punjab need to look at their middle order batting,” highlighting his detailed analysis of team performances and areas for improvement.

Aside from his IPL analysis, Pathan is also celebrating approaching 500,000 subscribers on YouTube. To mark this achievement, he announced a giveaway of autographed jerseys to fans who subscribe to his channel and send video questions using the hashtag #AskIrfan.

“500K YouTube milestone loading… Huge thank you for all the love & support!” Pathan shared, encouraging fans to engage with his content and participate in the celebration.

Irfan Pathan, who represented India in all formats of the game between 2003 and 2012, was known for his ability to swing the ball both ways and his contributions as a lower-order batsman. He was part of India’s 2007 ICC World Twenty20 winning team and played a crucial role in the final against Pakistan.

In the IPL, Pathan represented several franchises including Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings), Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, and Gujarat Lions. His experience across multiple teams gives him a unique perspective when analyzing IPL performances.

Since retiring from cricket, Pathan has established himself as a respected cricket commentator and analyst, regularly sharing his insights on matches and player performances across various platforms.

As the IPL 2024 season progresses toward its business end, cricket fans will be closely following Pathan’s analysis to gain deeper insights into team strategies and player performances that could determine which four teams ultimately make it to the playoffs.
